Yoga Sessions

Sparrow Senior Living is honored to collaborate with Kristen Mockler from Mindful & Movement, LLC to provide individualized wellness plans and chair yoga for our residents.

Coach Kristen is a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, Personal Trainer, and Certified Yoga Instructor (200YTT). She has prior experience in leading chair yoga, nutritional counseling, and stress management techniques in a clinical setting that specialized in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation.

Chair yoga for older adults has many benefits, including loosening and stretching painful muscles, reducing chronic pain, decreasing stress, and improving circulation. Please see below for a special message from Coach Kristen. 


"Hi, I am Coach Kristen from Mindful & Movement, LLC. My gentle approach to chair yoga entails a one-on-one session with each lovely resident. Together, we focus on breathing techniques, gentle stretching, soft movement, engaging mindfulness and safely isolating balance. This is a fun way to bring movement throughout the day in a safe, mindful and welcoming environment. 

During our session, I am directly engaged and hands-on, which creates the ability to predict, attend and assist in the resident's every need. Each session looks a little different depending upon the individual's health, ability and comfort. 

Research has found that chair yoga can lead to an increase in physical measures as well as a number of quality-of-life measures. Some of these include: 

  • Reduced pain and pain interference

  • Less fatigue

  • Increase in blood flow

  • Strength maintenance

  • Supportive heart health

  • Improvement in gait speed

  • Increase in balance

  • Increase in confidence

  • Peaceful mind

  • Softened acceptance & emotional regulation
